Makaboo Embroidery

mākaboo Personalized Gifts was launched in St. Louis, MO in December of 2009 with the goal of becoming the nation’s premiere online destination for high-end personalized children’s gifts. Since its launch, mākaboo has shipped gifts to all 50 states, and has been featured on Stroller Traffic, www.people.com and a variety of other local and national media outlets.

Makaboo Pals

Since mākaboo is primarily an online retailer where customers cannot see and touch its products, the site features brands that moms already know and love – lines like Aden & Anais, Angel Dear, Bella Bliss,Makaboo Shipping Kissy Kissy, and Swaddle Designs. We are proud to include our one-of-a-kind personalization experience, embroidery, and darling packaging free with all of our gifts.

About Makaboo's Founder

Makaboo Group

Cindy Teasdale McGowan, mākaboo’s founder, came up with the idea for mākaboo while working in the Product Group at Snapfish.com in San Francisco. She loved helping consumers to build tangible products with intangible software, and thought no one was doing a fantastic job in the baby gift space.

In 2007, Cindy moved back to her hometown of St. Louis to be with her now-husband, real estate developer Bill McGowan. After a few stints at agencies in town, she decided to take the leap and start mākaboo.

Makaboo Store Front

Cindy graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1998. She and Bill now live in St. Louis’ Central West End with their cat Me (who used to have a brother named Julio), within a few miles of 18 of their 23 nieces and nephews.
